The first verse of Guarnice, a song from the album "Contragolpe", was created on a beach in the south of England. I remember that it was a summer with record temperatures all over Europe.
I was stand-up paddling alongside two friends in a canoe. At a certain point in the journey, one of them pointed to the sand and said out loud:
"Wow, look at those four beautiful white horses running across the sands..."
I replied:
"That's incredible! But you see what I see, it looks like they're galloping across the water towards us!"
The effect of the hot sun created a mirage, turning them into seahorses.
At the same time, this verse came to mind, as the rhythm of the oars hit the water:
This song is also inspired by the traditions and rich musicality of the state of Pernambuco in Brazil.
Its a homage to the "Caboclo de Lança" of the “Maracatu Rural”.
This character incorporates symbols of the Brazilian struggle in its search for expression and freedom against the various forms of violence and control that still disempower the peoples of Brazil and Latin America.

O primeiro verso de Guarnice, uma música do álbum "Contragolpe", foi criado em uma praia no sul da Inglaterra. Lembro-me que aquele foi verão com temperaturas recordes em toda a Europa.
Eu estava remando de stand-up ao lado de dois amigos em uma canoa. Em um determinado momento da viagem, um deles apontou para a areia e disse em voz alta:
"Nossa, olha só esses quatro lindos cavalos brancos correndo pela areia..."
Eu respondi:
"Isso é incrível! Mas você vê o que eu vejo, parece que eles estão galopando pela água em nossa direção!"
O efeito do sol quente criou uma miragem, transformando-os em cavalos-marinhos.
Ao mesmo tempo, este verso me veio à mente, enquanto o ritmo dos remos batia na água:
Guarnicê foi inspirada nas tradições e rica musicalidade do Estado de Pernambuco.
Essa música é uma homenagem ao "Caboclo de Lança" do Maracatu Rural.
Este personagem incorpora símbolos da luta do brasileiro em sua busca por expressão e liberdade contra as várias formas de violência e controle que ainda desempoderam os povos do Brasil e da América Latina.
