Since I started learning Capoeira Angola in 1981 with masters Marco Aurélio and then with Armando and José Carlos, I have in my memory the session of Mestre Traíra's vinyl rhythms. Actually we trained with tapes at that time and so many times that we used it, the tape has spoiled! It was Traíra and nothing else! Although, a short time later I got a copy of Mestre Moraes tape recorded on Radio MEC which i still have. Then we began to hear Moraes too, and nothing else! Since then, it has not changed much, I am still listening to Traíra, now with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.
For me this is the most brilliant capoeira album of all time. From the rhythms recorded by Traíra, Cobrinha Verde e Gato in that recording, "Jeje” is the most elaborate, hypnotic, a true mantra. I often use it in my activities, especially when I train body syncopation to break the linear patterns of movement.
Syncopation, as Muniz Sodré speaks, assists the function of the Orixá "Exú”, the communicator, who opens the doors to the work to begin, changing the ordinary pattern of time. Connecting with extraordinary worlds. For me "Jeje" is a unique work of art, produced by the genius of a select group of inspired and highly trained masters.
In here our capoeira collective leave a humble collaboration to the legacy of these masters. So, I want to say that this track is a reinterpretation of what I've heard since my first lesson in capoeira angola.

Desde que comecei a aprender Capoeira Angola em 1981 com mestres Marco Aurélio e depois com Armando e José Carlos, alunos de Mestre Moraes, tenho na minha memória a sessão de ritmos do vinil de Mestre Traíra. Na verdade treinávamos principalmente com tapes naquela época e de tantas vezes que nós o tocamos, ele estragou! Era Traira e nada mais! Porém pouco tempo depois consegui uma cópia do tape de Mestre Moraes gravada na rádio MEC. Então passamos a ouvir M. Moraes também, e nada mais! De lá para cá não mudou muito, continuo escutando Mestre Traíra agora com Wi-Fi e Bluetooth. Para mim este é o álbum mais genial de capoeira de todos os tempos. Dos ritmos gravados por ele, Cobrinha Verde e Gato naquela gravação, o “Jeje” é o mais elaborado, hipnótico, um verdadeiro mantra: insuperável.
Frequentemente uso Jeje em minhas atividades, especialmente quando treino síncope corporal para quebrar os padrões lineares do movimento. A síncope, como bem fala Muniz Sodré, auxilia a função do orixá Exú, o comunicador, aquele que abre as portas para os trabalhos começarem, mudando o padrão ordinário do tempo. Conectando com mundos extraordinários. Para mim Jeje é um obra de arte única, produzida pela genialidade de um grupo seleto de mestres inspirados e muito bem treinados.
Aqui, o coletivo de capoeiristas de Contragolpe, deixa esta humilde colaboração ao legado destes mestres. Quero portanto frizar que essa faixa é uma reinterpretação daquilo que ouço desde minha primeira lição de capoeira angola.
