about

"June 13, 2013 was an important milestone for a movement that would go down in history as the largest mass mobilisation of the last 20 years in Brazil, the June Days (As Jornadas de Junho).

The protests was initiated in response to the price increase of the bus tickets, triggering a wave of protests that led millions of citizens to the streets of the largest cities in Brazil, such as Sao Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Belo Horizonte and Recife.

The shift in the media narrative and the statements of politicians is, for some analysts of the June Days, a fundamental element for a debate that remains open until today, five years later. A debate that focuses on the role of the June 2013 Days in the conservative advance that three years later would contribute to a controversial impeachment process, as well as to the radicalisation of the withdrawal of social rights that would follow.

To historian Gilberto Calil, professor at the State University of Western Paraná (Unioeste), a common misconception in some of the analyses produced on the movement has been the effort to correlate the manifestations of 2013 with those in favor of the impeachment of Dilma Rousseff in 2015, as well as the impeachment of the mandate itself, a year later. It is a position defended, for example, by the sociologist Jessé Souza, former director of the Institute of Applied Economic Research (Ipea) during the second government Dilma, who in the book 'The radiography of the coup', 2016, argued that the manifestations of 2013 were the 'the serpent's egg' of a process of conservative advance that would culminate in the deposition of the president. Fernando Haddad, minister of education during the Dilma government and mayor of São Paulo in 2013, defended, in an article for the magazine Piauí, in June 2017, that June 2013 was the 'fuse of impeachment'."

_________

The rhythm played here is know in Capoeira as the cavalry (cavalaria) beat and its variations. The tambourine is scoring at 6/8.

Take your berimbau or tambourine and follow the trot of the horses!

"They called the police soldiers, infantry battalion, it was night and it was day, here comes the cavalry soldiers ..."

Tip: listen to a good stereo sound! The bass will surprise you
