Cristino Gomes da Silva Cleto, or simply Corisco, was Lampião's right-hand man. In 1940, he and his wife Dada were cornered by Brazilian army forces in the town of Barra do Mendes and did not give themselves up. Like many of Brazil's marginalised and excluded, they were executed.
"And the question that remains is: how do we deal with a society in which death appears so frequently in the lives of those who have historically been deprived of social integration?

In "Se Entrega Corisco", the album Contragolpe takes up the theme of the Brazilian northeast. The historical problems of land distribution, slavery and inequality in this region, since colonisation, have taken on the dimensions of a humanitarian disaster, due to poverty, drought, corruption, land conflicts and the extermination of the indigenous population.
Lampião, a fugitive from the law known as the "King of Cangaço", and Antônio Conselheiro, a pilgrim and founder of the "Arraial de Canudos", who was killed with more than 20,000 people who followed him, are symbols of inequality and the fight for the rights of Brazil's oppressed peoples. For many, they are considered heroes of the people and, for others, criminals and lunatics.
But contrary to the lyrics of the song "Sobradinho", Antônio Conselheiro, in his prophetic delirium, did not manage to "turn the dry lands into a sea".
This well-known metaphor in Brazil perhaps refers to the land promised by the long-dreamed-of agrarian reform.
The mythical dream that never comes true.

Cristino Gomes da Silva Cleto, ou simplesmente Corisco, era o braço direito de Lampião. Em 1940, ele e sua esposa Dada foram encurralados pelas forças do exército brasileiro na cidade de Barra do Mendes e não se entregaram. Como muitos dos marginalizados e excluídos do Brasil, foram executados.
"E a pergunta que fica é: como lidar com uma sociedade em que a morte aparece com tanta frequência na vida daqueles que historicamente foram privados da integração social?

Em "Se Entrega Corisco", o álbum Contragolpe retoma o tema do nordeste brasileiro. Os problemas históricos da distribuição de terras, da escravidão e da desigualdade nessa região, desde a colonização, tomaram dimensões de um desastre humanitário, devido à pobreza, à seca, à corrupção, aos conflitos de terra e ao extermínio da população indígena.
Lampião, fugitivo da lei conhecido como "Rei do Cangaço", e Antônio Conselheiro, peregrino e fundador do "Arraial de Canudos", morto com mais de 20 mil pessoas que o seguiam, são símbolos da desigualdade e da luta pelos direitos dos povos oprimidos do Brasil. Para muitos, são considerados heróis do povo e, para outros, criminosos e lunáticos.
Mas, ao contrário do que diz a letra da música "Sobradinho", Antônio Conselheiro, em seu delírio profético, não conseguiu "fazer das terras secas um mar".
Essa metáfora tão conhecida no Brasil talvez se refira às terras prometidas pela tão sonhada reforma agrária.
O sonho mítico que nunca se realiza.
